In ears

More of a personal question, but which would buy out of a pair of shire in ears e2c and the sennheiser ie4? (only reason due to keeping the cost down for now) The application would be, obviously stage monitoring for a drummer and then general usage for iPod etc. Do either allow for in eat moulds to work with the in ears?!

Any thoughts, experiences appreciated. Thanks

I own a paid of Sennheiser IE6 and IE8s and love them; I would certainly recommed the IE series, but as I don't know the Shire Ears serise I can't give you a comparison.

Both the IE6 and 8s accept my custom ear moulds without problem, and have drastically reduced the volume needed for me to hear my MP3 player when flying (noticed a great difference when using my IE8s on a 13 hour flight to San Francisco last year over normal "in ear") or as a passenger in the car etc.

Sorry I meant Shure not Shire (predictive text on the iPhone!!)

Is the bass more 'richer' in the IE series?!

I do like the 'tighten' the cable on the Shure inears. A bit of plastic that moves up or down to stop them falling off your head. Does the IE have a similar concept?!

From the look of pics, the sennheiser just 'plug' into your ears whereas the shure's somehow spin into your ear, for comfort and keeping them in place?! So would the sennheiser fail there as the drummer moves dynamically?! Causing his in ears to slip off?!

Thanks again.

Yes, the Sennheisers have a cable tightener and a cable clip and I find the low end on them to be extremely good; infact a very good all round frequency response. I've not had any issues going running with my IEs in, apart from being deaf to the world around me at times, they've yet to fall out. They also accept the ACS custom moulded ear plugs as "buds" if you remove the filter. Certainly the IE 6 and 8s both came with little wire over ear clips/ holders to keep the cable going over the ears.
