Dave_Donage334
I'm looking for a new set of monitors, not too fussed whether active or passive, just need a new set as our old ones are dying as they are 30 years old
paulears
Dave - welcome to the forum. I suspect your post won't work too well. Are you looking for second hand cheapies, or a pair of brand new ones at £5 grand each? We need to know the kind of quality, output and physical requirements otherwise we can't really suggest things. Do you want floor types, vertical ones or flown ones? what are they replacing?
Dave_Donage334
preferably cheapish laney or something similar, floor type wedges with a decent output maybe 200-300w? they're replacing a set of no brand wedge speakers that have been thrashed beyond belief

Can pair with one of the Studiospares power amps to get them going, which also sound surprisingly good for the price. If I had to buy something low end and I was on a budget, at the moment they'd definitely be on my hit list.
photographic08
Something by behringer is probably best. They're not cheap cheap, but for what you pay they are very robust and well built. Try looking at this one here.
J Pearce
The cheap wooden thomann own brand wedges are surprisingly good for the money. A little harsh in tone, but that can often be useful in monitors.
smalljoshua
Have a look at the EV ELX112 and ELX115. They're EV's budget boxes but are very good for the money. I have a pair of the ELX112 and they just don't stop putting out! http://www.thomann.de/gb/ev_elx_112.htm http://www.thomann.de/gb/ev_elx_115.htm Josh
TonyMitchell
with a decent output maybe 200-300w? I guess you mean input Input is in w, output is in dB The wattage doesn't really matter though, does it? (unless you're feeding a meter with coins!) How loud do you want the wedges to play comfortably (without thrashing the hell out of them, so the new ones may last as long as the old ones they replace)
Dave_Donage334
Not too loud, just loud enough to be heard on stage and not in the main auditorium
