pete10uk
Just a quick one. Im after replacing some missing green connector blocks found on many install pieces of equipment. I'm sure most know the type of thing I'm referring to. I'm not sure what these are called, I need a few different types I.e different sizes, ones with tabs on and also ones with a curved side. Any one know a source for these, preferably online with images and size information so I can correctly ID them? I've tried a few of the obvious places but I'm not getting much for green audio thingies. Any help would be appreciated Cheers
dbuckley
They are called Phoenix connectors, widely available from the electronics boutiques. Theres only one type I've ever seen used, usually in multiples of threes for audio and bigger numbers for control lines. You can stack the connectors adjacent to each other, so I often use six ways to do two balanced lines.
boatman
Sounds like something from the Camden range of PCB connectors. Available from CPC
pjb304
I've always known them as phoenix blocks, whether that's the correct name or not I don't know. However, searching for that on farnell came up with these, which I think are what you are after. There are also lots of other versions returned by the search. I'd be wary of identifying by picture - as for example they have a picture of a 5 way block on the 2way product page.
TomHoward
On the off chance that the equipment you are looking for them for is Cloud - they sell full replacement sets based on product through their distributors. Otherwise, again, I've known them as Phoenix connectors, but you'd have to measure the pitch as they come in different sizes.
pete10uk
Thanks, these look like the ones or very similar. There are quite a few different ones many I can say are defiantly not the ones I'm after but some are most defiantly the right ones, I just need to work out the correct sizes and no. of ways. Thanks for all your help, if anyone has any recommendations on the standard connections used for audio, it may save some measuring time. I have about 10 pieces of kit with missing connectors but there are all 1 of 3 types and sizes. Cheers again.
phil dB
They're usually known as pheonix connectors, but I think thats down to the main manufacturer - Pheonix Contact. On their website, they're actually listed as COMBICONs. Most of these styles of connectors (from various manufacturers) seem to fit each other, but I have come across a couple that don't - the only one that springs to mind at the moment is some older extron kit, so you should be OK. Take a look on the farnell site as I've ordered some from there before. HTHPhil
