miguelvicente
Hi Guys, I am to install a small show relay system on a very little theatre. We are talking about 2 speakers with volume control and a 50 seats house. Do you know of any solutions/kits with a good price/quality ration we should havea look at? Thank you very much Miguel
david.elsbury
A condenser mic with a small preamp (Behringer Sharc is good, if you can get one, because it has a compressor inbuilt which will help level the sound out) and feeding to two small powered monitors or even good quality computer speakers should work. What sort of a budget are you looking to use? David
TomHoward
We use a pair of studio monitors, with a Behringer Shark preamp (as suggested, because of the compression - it means you don't have to jump for the volume when the applause starts) attached to a microphone mounted on one of the lighting bars. Did you use a splitter to supply both the monitors?
dbuckley
Another shark user (and recommender) for relay; not only has it a comp, but a low cut as well, to keep LF energy out of the relay.

ojc123
Our school setup was put together years ago as an ad hoc arrangement and is still there working perfectly well. It's an old domestic camcorder with the AV out sent to a couple of speakers powered by a small basic amplifier. The mechanics of the camcorder have never worked which is why we got it for nothing. The sound is fit for purpose. The camcorder seems to cope with very quiet and very loud sounds and has been fit and forget (which is why it's still there). The bonus is that we can also have a visual relay too if we choose. Not a professional response, but a very cheap one!
TomHoward
Did you use a splitter to supply both the monitors? We actually run it through a little mixer along with some other inputs to the monitors, so the splitting is taken care of. It may be worth doing something similar to give yourself a bit of level control.
