Paul the 6th
Hiya guys, sorry if this has been asked before but just looking for a little guidance on AV Tech specific PLI cover. I've done a bit of searching and seen the likes of BECTU and PSA membership offering PLI cover with their membership, but not 100% convinced that the included cover would be as comprehensive as a standalone policy procured through a specialist broker? I've never joined a union/lobbying body before so also need to look into the benefits of joining one.. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Also, what sort of annual PLI rates are you guys paying as freelance technicians? I'm not a lighting or electrician specific tech, more just general conferences (projection, general lighting to give a bit of a wash, sound, desk, powerpoint etc. jack of all trades).. Also I saw a post from someone mentioning that the industry standard limit is now around £10 million, but they also mentioned they were running an event for a major high street bank so this could have something to do with it? Would 5 million be adequate in most cases or is the £10m standard starting to spread now? As above, apologies if this has been posted before - I did have a quick search around but couldn't find anything similar to my few questions......... Thanks in advance! Grum
The PSA don't include PLI with membership. You do however get free PSA membership if you get PLI through crewcover.com a minor difference in one way but potentially a major difference when you need to use the insurance you think you've got. Ah.. my bad, I think I was looking through the wrong end of the telescope on that one. Thanks for the replies guys, managed to get sorted with PLI earlier today after having the meeting for some freelance work coming up - could be a good gig, some long days but new challenges :)
