Small Cheap Laptops (Notebooks)

Hi all,

I've been doing more and more conference work and I'm starting my NVQ3 Electrical this year as well and would like something small with good battery life to make notes on.

I normally use my 15.4" MacBook Pro for just about everything, however I do a lot of DJ work with Serato on it and it is an expensive bit of gear (nearly £2k when I bought it a year or so ago) and I don't really wanna be using it for everything all over the place!

What I've been looking at is an Acer AspireOne 522 'Netbook'. However, looking at the specs on it (mainly the dual core chip, HD 1080P HDMI output with a decent graphics chip and a 1366 x 768 resolution on a 10.1" screen) it seems to be more than capable for the £250 or so it's going to cost.

So basically, if anyone is after a decent(ish) little show laptop to run your powerpoints, audio, maybe DMX I think this one is worth a look. :)

On a side note it does say 2GB max RAM, but it will actually see and support 4GB, so I plan to max it out to that with possibly an SSD as well. :)

Acer Aspire One 522. (Take a look on the old eBay ;))

Don't know this exact model, but I swear by Acer's....

I have an Aspire One 260 (cos it's purple!!!), and a 3+ and 6+ year old Travelmates, both of which still do their job (they were both top of the range when new).

Last week's new investment was an Aspire Ethos 18.4" as a new show machine (mainly Powerpoint and movies) .....loving it so far!
