JohnJarvis
I have recently purchased a second hand 1TM250 colour. It works well. My problem is setting the DMX address or at least getting it to stay set!.I am aware of a post under the name of Andy Brown 19th August 08 but sadly this to date has not helped.I have four buttons marked Mode Select/100s 10s/Yes/on 1s/No/off. A four digit LED lights up CHAn after initialising and pressing mode. Any ideas anyone?
Chrislittle
Hi John, I use the ITM250r scans alot at work, really easy to set DMX. Push mode and cycle through to CHAn, then press the select button. once that is done use the 100s(same as select button) /10s/1 buttons to set DMX, hit the mode button again to come out or you can just leave it, and that should do the job. Any probs just ping me a PM and ill get back to you
JohnJarvis
Chris Thanks for your reply. Did send a pm. Not sure if you got it. Problem remains have entered DMX as per your instructions but for some reason unit does not retain the number. When switching on again need to go through the whole process again. Any ideas anyone? Richard CSL
either the internal memory battery is dead, or you are not hitting enter after setting the DMX!
Chrislittle
I can't see an internal battery got a board sitting infront of me :). it could be possible that the bank of triacs next to the buttons maybe one has gone, just a guess im not a mega expert on electronics just very basic knowledge to get me through some bits. Richard CSL
no it wont be a triac, which is probably the voltage regulator, if there is no onboard battery, (likely) then are you pressing the menu button after setting the address, as this saves the memory to the master chip. are any of the other menu settings being saved for instance any of the parameters, this will tell you if the storage is working? JohnJarvis
Thanks Chris and Richard for the info so far. Seems like a memory problem to me. Not aware of any other parameters to set. Apart from L on or L off which I suspect is Lock on or off. If you do set L to on after a restart it has altered to L off. Basically nothing stays set. Unit works well from DMX when set the first time though. Have yet to investigate inside not sure if there are any generic chips/memory or if its custom made for this unit perhaps on Eprom or similar. Anyone know?
Richard CSL
from the fact that none of the settings are retained after switch off, I would suggest the master CPU internal memory has been affected, you will need to get a replacement from ITC, very difficult I would imagine, as I have never heard of them, but they may still exist. other than that if the head defaults to DMX channel 1 each time, would it not be easier just to patch this as number 1, I had the same problem with a Mac 250 once and the solution (temporary ) was to make it head 1. JohnJarvis
Thanks Richard. Sadly on switch on I don't think the unit defaults to any DMX address or at least it won't respond until you set one. Pity seems a great unit apart from this problem. Case of Caveat emptor! JohnJarvis
This problem has been on the "back burner " for several weeks. After having a closer look at the PCB have discovered a 24L C07B/P 8 pin chip adjacent to the massive 60 pin chip. This has turneds out be a 1Kbit electrically erasable PROM. Is it likely that my missing DMX address may be stored on this possibly faulty chip? If so I might try to track down this IC. Any experience anyone?
Richard CSL
certainly worth a try? for the sake of a couple of quid.
