david.elsbury
Hi everyone, sorry for another question...I'm in New Zealand, I'm 18, and starting to freelance sound/lighting.I feel that it would be wise for me to undertake training regarding fall arrest and working at height, and also safe rigging. I've asked a mate who works (very) casually for one of the large lighting/sound companies here, who says that there is really no training of this sort available here. I don't want to pick this up on the job, because quite frankly I can't, I have no venues/people that can train me. So if you have suggestions I would be most appreciative. I realsise that it may involve flying over to Australia- if the training is worthwhile, this is an option for me, however I'd have to save and plan for it. The same applies for training working the flys, however I expectI'd have to learn this on the job. Thanks for reading this far  David
david.elsbury
Hi, sorry to bump this- but I figure that it's a tricky question to try and get answers to, seeing as most of you are based in the UK. So is there anyone in Australia who frequents the Blue Room who could tell me rough dates and costs of courses? or a website to go to? Otherwise any suggestions of people/ organisations to ask would be good- I had the thought of asking Petzel (sp?) when everyone is back into business after the new years break?Sorry to ask the tricky questions :)Thanks David
peter
Have you tried searching on the ALIA website?
Jivemaster
While a foreign ( to NZ ) course would be better than nothing, would it satisfy NZ law, You must find your equivalent to the (UK) Health and safety at work act and also the work at height regs then find an approvet trainer.
