fredfish
Having lost out a few times by underestimating the weight of cases when doing deliveries by freight services, Its time to look for a means of weighing accurately large and small cases. I'm certain that I saw a product on Flints website a while back consisting of a pair of electronically linked weighing beams designed for weighing scenery etc. but my google-fu is weak today and I can't find it again. So my question is what do you guys use for this task? All recommendations gratefully received.
jonathanhill
How about one of these: http://www.key.co.uk/floor-scales_MDL1191486123676759.html You can even weigh your llamas!

Simon Lewis
How about one of these: Looks good, and as it's "from £92" good value too! Until you find out that's for the optional display stand, and the scales are over £600 ;-) I would search for hanging scales - you can get something that handles 200kg for about £20. I have definitely filled cable cases to over 200kg with PowerLock and the like.
ramdram
http://www.instawares.com/400-kg-hanging-scales.8740.5.7924.0.0.8.htm Like so but you will have to google for a UK supplier...and you will know this anyway...hopefully before you do the weigh-in...make sure whatever you hang the scales off will bear the weight... TomHoward
The Flints product is on page 2.13, under Winches and lifting gear, but it's no cheaper than the llama scales.
jonathanhill
the llama scales.I think this is how they should be referred to hereafter...

I have definitely filled cable cases to over 200kg with PowerLock and the like. Indeed, but you can get hanging or crane scales of pretty much any capacity, and they can be relatively cheap. For smaller stuff, I used to use bathroom scales...
Brian
A good pair of bathroom scales and three blocks of wood? Ok, so you have to take four weights and add them up but it is at least cheap. My bathroom scales go up to 170kg so, with a reasonably balanced case, will handle up to a total of 4 times that, or put another, over half a ton(ne). And to those suggesting hanging scales - how on earth are you going to get the case off the ground so you can weigh it . People seem to have enough trouble with getting a mover up on a bar ;)

handyandi
Looked into this a while back & ebay is awash with 150KG £60 platform scales but the platform is not that large (300mm x 380mm). For large platforms & its a big price hike. There are a few used versions go for less than £150 with bigger platforms so at the time used some large parcel scales @ work. Can see an issue with large mixer cases with platform scales. Have also used the bathroom scales before, would be good to see if you can get a set you can butcher & make the display remote.
