Right, I get ya. So to start with , while creating the personality I can just get away with entering the details such as 4 channel, pan 0-255, tilt 0-255 colour 0-255, gobo 0-255 -- and then fill in the relevent 'colour and gobo ranges once I know what they are after going through them!

Thats great.

Thks chaps!

Yup. Either that or just patch 4 dimmer channels to start off with, and then make the personality in one go rather than having to get halfway and then editing it.

Ah yeah. fair enough Wol.

The things are so pissy its hardly even worth the bother quite honestly, but at least if they are in as a fixture then FX's can be assigned to them to make them move around smoothly - well, as smooth as they get!!

Otherwise I just would have patched them as 'dimmers' from the start!

Right. Will do that next time the band has a full rehearsal. The mojos are in and ready at least.

Thks for all your help chaps.

May I just say a big thanks to everyone here who has replied and offered help and advice, particually Wol.

This was/is my first time in pc lighting control and even beforehand having read all the literature both here in the Wiki and on the Chamsys site, it was so usefull to have 'actual users' just giving idiot proof information on the hows and whys of simple start-up.

Proceeding my last question, I have it all up and running now and for this type of application I wish id done it years ago! The 7" touchscreen I bought works wonders. Just the right size for easy use and access to focus/colour/beam palletts.

So for now, I will continue to learn the software and get to know all the handy shortcuts etc.

Thanks once again all and enjoy this lovely sunny day today! :)

Another basic question from a new magicq user:

How do you get playbacks to work one-at-a-time?

Basically: I have a rig of LED Pars running colour chases at full brightness.

I want it so that I can hit a playback button on my execute window and it stops all other playbacks.

I have tried the stomp settings (all 3 of them) and the result of them is that I end up with the chases mixing together rather than replacing each other.

How do I go about rectifying this? Is it a programming error on my part or have I found a bug?

(I'm currently running the mac version of the demo software (£10 dongle))

Thanks in advance

In the execute window, put the playbacks you want in a single line, and set the "Item Type" (encoder E) to "Button (So)" for each of them. This then creates a group where only one playback will be active at once.

Thanks Wol

I've just gone to do this and I have an option of 'fader' or 'button' but not 'Button (So)'

Update your software :) It's a relatively new feature. Theres also an option of "Button (Fl)" for a flash button.

Thank you once again for coming to the rescue Wol!

Hello again

Is it possible to apply this effect to the entire execute page? Or is it currently reserved for playbacks that are in-line with each other?

It's currently only for those in a horizontal line with each other, that way you can then have separate groups for different areas / fixtures in one execute grid, rather than the whole thing acting as one
