M400 main L/R and stereo delay

I recently purchased a Roland M400 console, and am trying to setup the main outputs and a delay line for use with balcony fills in a theatre.

I want the panning on the balcony to follow that of the main rig, and tried sending the main L/R into matrix's and Aux channels, but it seems to sum the L/R channels into a single matrix or Aux, and looses panning information.

The only way I can come up with is setup the patchbay to output the main L/R then use short XLR's to patch it back into the desk (then send these channels to either matrix or aux channels and inserting a stereo graphic with delay tab, from the effects rack), but this waists 2 ins and outs.

Does anyone know a better way of achieving this?

Thanks

Sean

Are you using two matrix outputs?

Matrix 1 only send left master

Matrix 2 only send right master.

As a side I would run the whole PA off the matrix ideally so I could eq individual sends as supposed to eq-ing the whole output. You can then have a further matrix feeding recording equipment so you capture board sound and not board sound plus room eq etc.

hi there .

set the auxes as a pair using 'link' button .

the auxes (or matrices) will then work as stereo and pan will follow - no cables and patching needed.

simply send to the stereo aux pair from main l/r. ( or matrices).

remember to set the pans for the aux pair send (on l/r default is odd is left and even is right.).

using a stereo graphic (plus delay )from the FX engines will give you time delay and eq.

might I suggest the manual or the 'help' button on the desk are a good source for answers.

You might like to use the dual channel strip instead of a stereo graphic as an insert on a matrix pair. It has delay, but also some other facilities. Pair up two matrix feeds as described above, and feed from Main L and R. And then route to a couple of omni outs on the console. You do of course need to use two matrix channels and a pair of outs if you want to pan to the balcony feeds.

I suppose I would have to ask if you are sure you want to run in 'true stereo' like this - if the balcony and auditorium are of any significant width then only a tine minority of seats will be placed where they can hear a stereo image.
