TomHoward
I know there some ls9 experts on here, so just wanted to ask a couple of quick queries- I'm doing a gig using an LCR setup, with the centre speakers run off the Mono bus. Because of the mono bus I'm using a custom fader layer, with ch1-31 on faders 1-31, and mono master on 32. Is there any way to make mono master follow the stereo master, or link the faders? Secondly, when using sends on faders on the custom fader layer, the master fader doesn't follow the bus master like it does on the normal fader layers, is there any way around this? Bearing in mind there is no real right or wrong, just how you feel comfortable working, for what it's worth I wouldn't bother with the custom fader layer, depending on the complexities of your inputs and other mixes needed I would probably just rustle up 3 (or 2 if doing LR hangs in mono) post fade mixes, feed the pa from matrix if you need to in which case you can run the whole shebang from one post fade mixbus, or two linked for stereo. If you use Studio manager to set up the system, you can set each channel to either stereo LR or true LCR setup, in which case you dont have to worry about trying to drive the mono from the left and right to create a pseudo centre feed. Sadly, I have yet to find a way of setting LCR up directly from the desk.
TomHoward
Thanks for the LCR - I found it under the Pan page: http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/200565_509501430120_222900118_332930_8232009_n.jpg Where's the Centre output though, does it route onto the mono bus? Is that then post stereo master, or is this just a variable feed to the mono bus instead of fixed?

To be pedantic, there is no mono bus when in LCR mode.... however, that aside, if you go to the patch editor, the output labelled mono© is the one you're after, you can then patch it to whichever omni or slot output you require. The audio will be sent to left right and centre as per the ratio of the PAN and CSR pots, all three are independent buses. TomHoward
Thanks - this is routing onto the same bus as the non-LCR channels are using for mono, and as far as I can tell it's still routing through the mono master fader rather than following the master fader, so I still need the custom layer. This lack of master fader control in Sends on Faders in the custom layer is annoying, as I can't cue the mix outputs from the master fader like you can in a normal layer. ChrisTS
I still need the custom layer. . Hi there, If you go into setup menu then preferences you can select the "STEREO/MONO LINK" option that will link the stereo and mono faders, including any offset they may have... Therefore you wouldn't need the custom layer any more... Hope that helps Cheers,Chris
TomHoward
Thanks Chris! Perfect, now I can cue monitor mixes again.
Rob_Beech
Take care cuing monitors from the master fader. If you have the master fader switched to listen wedge volume mode (which I normally thrown on a key) and you cue it, it cues pre fade, but doesn't seem to take your PFL trim from the setup menu into account.
