godd2
I am wondering if someone can advise me on what type of equipment I am looking for in order to create "echo" or other effect for the actor singing on stage. I just simply dont know what I would need. would I need something that is before the signal reaches the sound board or after? thank you for the help
whisky-zulu
Have a gander at the specs for Yamaha's SPX 2000 as an example - it has a number of different effects and from the sound of it you want to create a delay in order to emulate an echo of something that is sung/ said by the vocalist - another example would be theLexicon MX200. Failing either of those you could go for a sound board which has inbuilt effects - analogue wise, Soundcraft do a range, as does Allen and Heath; all digital boards I've used have had inbuilt effects units. The effects unit would be at FOH end, connected to the sound desk, out of the desk through an auxillary, then back in through a standard mic channel; you'd then send the vocals to the aux that the effects unit is plugged into, and use the returns through the mic channels on the board the unit is plugged into the control how much of it comes through the PA. Just don't send the mic channeld the effects unit is plugged into on its return to the aux it is being sent from - you'll end up with feedback!
