Crown Macrotech Repairs

Hi everyone. I have a couple of old Crown Macrotechs that need fixing. I heard some horror stories out there about cowboys fixing them but want to find a really competent repairer.

Anyone know where I should send these?

Cheers

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Fuzion. Gary Ashton at Fuzion nows more about Crown Macrotechs than anyone else in the country. This guy is seriously good.

He's the only Crown approved tech in the UK as far as I know. He's the tech director at Fuzion now but I think Fuzion still accept Crowns for repair. I'd suggest you give him a call.

I had a couple of MA-3600's repaired by him a couple of years ago. He was very informative and told me what was wrong with my amps and also told me that when I got them back they would sound better. It seemed that they had been repaired before with some non standard parts and were badly set up. (How would I know? They worked but badly needed a service as they kept cutting out)

When I received them, I tried them on my hifi as I have some very expensive Tannoys. I'd used them on the system before but they always sounded a bit gritty and I wasn't that impressed with them despite the fact that I also used them on a small PA I had. The difference when I tried them was nothing short of stunning. Sparkling highs, slamming bass - amazing.

I called him to ask what the hell he'd done to achieve this and he told me that he knew how to do this and had been repairingall manner of Crowns since the mid eighties. Very modest chap but boy does he know his stuff. I did some digging and found out that he used to be the tech manager at Shuttlesound when they were importing Crown. I guess he was their guru then. I remember that Fuzion tookover the Crown dealership from Shuttlesound. I assume he was lured over to them at that point.

I recommended him to a friend that was having continual problems with an MA-5000VZ. He'd had looked at by many so-called experts and nobody had been able to repair it. He send it to Gary who fixed in 24 hours and it's still running 100%.

Sometimes it pays to go to those who know! I would recommend him to anyone.

I believe I've heard Gary's name come up before. All good reports, it might not have been to do with Macrotechs though.

I think you could have left out a few bits though as maybe it was a little OTT.

By the way, I know more about CVT's than anyone else in the country.

I guess you're right. Reading through it, it does seem a bit wordy! Sorrys guys. I'm new to this.

I'd still highly recommend him though!
