A3 printer

I've got an HP Deskjet 1280, which has behaved perfectly for the last 3 years (and replaced an 11 year old HP A3 printer). We also use a fair few of the HP printers at work. They're robust enough to survice in our workshop and consumable costs seem to be good value for money (not the cheapest, but seem to last longer than others.)

It may be worth looking at something like an Officejet 7000, that is available in an A3 varient.

I've also got an HP Deskjet 1280. And it's been abused beyond what most printers would take. Downsides are: It has a combined CMY cartridge so when you are printing in colour you have to replace all colours at once.

Other than that... It's been a trouper.

I have a Brother MFC 8490 (I think) which prints A3 but also has a built in scanner + document feeder - I only really use it as a scanner but it's handy the odd time I need A3 in a hurry. Certainly not had any problems with it.

I used to have a Laserjet 8100DN which is a ridiculous sized printer for a home office (that said I now appear to have a Lanier 335 that I've just not bothered getting up the stairs yet ;)) but in general I prefer laser to inkjet

I had an HP1280 for ages and it worked fine, but couldn't get it to work with Windows 7 - HP hadn't produced an updated driver....don't know if they have yet...so it 'lost' most of its' features. I replaced it with the Brother unit previously mentioned & it's been spot-on so far. Push the boat out and get the dual tray option, so you don't have to dismantle it to change back to A4.

I got an old HP Laserjet 5Si for one English pound off eBay, I had to go and collect it too, its a bit of a beast, but produces good B&W plans, it can do A3 and does duplex too. We've topped it up with some toner from eBay too since.
