Hi All,

Hope this message finds you all well and my apologies in advance if I have posted this in the wrong section.

We need the following list of equipment on dry hire for a week from the 19th April. We normally collect this all from a hire company in Sutton, Surrey and van hire it across to the site in Newtown, Wales so if both local and Welsh companies could quote it would be much appreciated.

The list in terms on manufacturer and models is flexible, i.e. alternative to Litec and please send across any questions or queries you may have - ideally we would like this all from one hire company!

If quotes could be PM'd across that would be ideal. Thanks in advance for your time on this and I look forward to hearing back from you guys in the following days.

Kind regards,

Matthew

It's a very specific hire - would you not be easier getting in touch with appropriate hire companies and asking for 2 x Handheld Radio Microphones rather than specifically 'Trantec Series 4000' - I think you would be better getting in touch with companies rather than waiting for them to contact you.

Just my thoughts...

I also think you'd be better off re-doing your shop order into sections rather than a list of jumbled sections, put all your lighting together, all rigging and the same for sound, gives the company a real idea of whats needed.

I'll definitely recommend this. Things like where you have the 12 macs, and then the power cables for the 12 macs somewhere completely else! You also have one bit of truss listed in two different places as well. And I'd love to know what youre powering with 30 13A > twin socket extensions and 15 13A 4 ways?! I only usually have such a detailed hire list once weve got a company confirmed, and know what they have available. Before choosing a company, it's a lot easier to stay fairly vague, or at least use their websites to find out what they have available.

Remember you do need to put some effort into contacting hire companies rather than posting on a forum and expecting them to contact you! Or maybe a post saying "I need some truss, a few movers, and some sound kit in Wales in a couple of months - can you recommend any companies which you've had good dealings with?" might give you better answers.

You'd do a lot better making contact yoursef with various local hire companies, rather than just posting a list on here and waiting for them to come to you (many simply won't bother).

I concur with the point that other people have made regarding sorting your list into sections relating to lighting, sound, rigging, drapes, video, etc. - makes it a lot easier to work with.

Is there a particular reason why you've included someone else's rather specific cable-length colour-coding scheme in the specifications for your cables?

Oh, and they're called scaffold clamps or scaffold clips - Cheeseboroughs is very much an American term, not used in the UK.

I suspect this is a cut 'n' paste from a previous hire statement/invoice...

I thought the same - it's a very randomly put together list, that looks like the result of attempting to detail every single component of a job, put together without a plan. Kind of like when you have a pile of stock and a brief to not hire anything - so you design around the pile of bits. Almost certainly you could produce the same result with different kit - so searching for what is to a degree, a dog's breakfast, seems a bit weird!

No Hire comp is going to send you a quote on here, when you have asked them to do that hard work for you.

What I would say you do is find your local Hire comp's, find their website and download their price list. Then pick appropriate substitutes from thier hire stock to fulfill the same requirements of that what you have got listed here. Do that with a few different comp's. and definitely group items together, I even go to the trouble of putting sub headings in! Makes everyone's life easier, and overall a more enjoyable experience.

e.g.

Cabling

10x 5m Piggyback Ext lead

20x 2m Piggyback Ext lead

6x 10m Wieland Loom

Moving lights

6x MAC 250 Entour

6x MAC 700 Profile

Etc. etc. etc. Now that's much easier to read!

Considering the OP was last on here 2 days ago, and hasn't replied to their own topic yet, myybe we need to assume they're not really interested in our advice?

Hmm well before this post he wasent on for a very lengthy period of time.

It seems that he only comes onto the BR when he wants something.
