HolyPhish Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Hello I put this is Rigging and Staging but it does feel like it should be in Next Gen because of the simplicity of the problem. We currently own some truss. Unfortunately any possible paperwork related to the truss has disappeared, so I don't know any of the stats for it and I can't identify what make and model it is to be able to google for the available stats. I'm guessing the easiest thing is to describe it (I have no camera) in the most basic terms with as much detail as possible, even if it seems minutely stupid. The best description I can come up with is:3 main bars running the length which are circularBetween the main lengths are smaller circular rods forming triangular shapes.2m LengthsSilverAluminum (I suspect by the weight) Joining the truss is done by:Putting a rugby ball shaped insert into the end of one trusslining up the holes and putting a shaft though the holes (it can only go one way*) and then putting split/R pin through thatyou then repeat the process on all other legs. I'm sorry for the simplicity. Dani *If it helps: when the truss is lying with 2 legs flat on the floor, the shaft on the leg at the top would be sticking up vertically.
Dj Dunc Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 All truss from what I have seen should have a label on them with the model, manufacturer and other info on. If you can get to them, or if they havent accidentally dissapeared, that should tell you.
Simon Lyall Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 From that description it sounds like it could be slick... but I wouldn't rely on any loading information without knowing the precise model and manufacturer. Simon
ImagineerTom Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 From the "rugby ball" description it sounds like Penn Fabrication / Metalworx manufactured truss but they tend to cover their truss in labels and stamp their name/logo on the end pieces. Take a closer look?
Jivemaster Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 If it really hasn't any identification then it may be a DJ market trussing of neither name nor pedigree, likely from China and definitely not rated.
Simon Lewis Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 It could also be Litec. Can you borrow a camera and take a close up of the truss and the ends? Seeing how this is arranged would probably identify it.You may well be using this well within its capability, but any lifting activity should be planned, and that's hard to do if you do not know what make the truss is and the applicable load charts. Simon

Simon I'll try to get a picture of it. As my current stands are only capable of lifting 35KG I'm guessing that It's been ok...... D
Ashley R Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Sounds like Global Truss to me. Or a similar product How many mm is it from the center of one Tube to the other? And Are there lots and lots of braces? If the answer for the above answer is 240mm (290 from the outside) then it would be compatible with this product from Global. http://www.globaltru...Id=2&Category=5 There will be many other brands that sell similar truss to this though, Have a close look on the end's usually you will find a engraved brand name there.
HolyPhish Posted February 22, 2011 Author Posted February 22, 2011 Sounds like Global Truss to me. Or a similar product . I was just about to post that we (my hardworking admin friend) found the original invoice for the truss. It is indeed Global Truss. Thank You for all replies
