Smiffy Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 David Fox, the LX Operator on Ka, has shot a rough and ready timelapse of Cirque's Ka through the window of the control room. Quality isn't great as it's shot on an iphone and through a window, but thought it might interest some. Cheers Smiffy
paulears Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Well, you've got to hand it to them - they really do know how to put on a show!
AndyJones Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I've seen the show twice now -It is absolutely stunning. Not sure if I'll ever see something that will beat it!
Ynot Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 There are not many 'promo' videos that make me really want to go see a specific show (and I mean REALLY) but this one, despite it's lo-fi quality is one of them.Sadly, it's highly unlikely that I'll be getting to Vegas any time soon, so this won't be an option. :( Thoroughly enjoy CdS however. La Nouba was inspiring, and my first intro to the Cirque.
Smiffy Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 I believe that there is a DVD of Ka available Tony. Amazon might be a good place to look. Ka is a bit of a Technical wet-dream of a show really, and I'm sure many wouldn't be surprised to learn that the Venue and the Set is a Mark Fisher creation. I believe the Tech Budget came in at something like US$134,000,000 An interesting show, and well worth seeing at least once if only for marvelling at the speed at which the Multi-Tonne stage can throw itself around. Cheers Smiffy
Ian H Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I know some of the tech crew on Ka. and when I was last working in Vegas in November all the Cirque shows were being shot in 3D - that might be worth waiting to see. Ian
AndyJones Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I think the DVD is a 'how it's made' documentary, which is very interesting. I don't think they have done a live recording yet?
LeeStoddart Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I saw KA a couple of years ago and it is outstanding. Technically it is unbelievable (certainly wet dream is a good description) And artistically it's a good story and a great piece of theatre. Yes there is a "how it was made" DVD available - I bought my copy on the way out of the show. Highly recommended.
