PVC Labels for Flight Cases

Hey Chaps

I use white PVC labels on our flight cases, the type you can write on with a Sharpie and clean off with Isopropyl. Ordinarily, I order 200 at a time from Le Mark however they've recently hiked their prices up and aren't open to negotiation. Does anyone use a similar product from a different company?

Cheers

Flightcase warehouse do generic ones in packs of five for about a tenner each. I guess it depends on how much (little) you're willing to pay?

Thanks Shez,

I'm looking to pay £1.50 per label at most, based on an order of 200. The ones we had designed are great, don't get me wrong, it's just I resent them putting the prices up when I order them so often.

You could try Universal Printing.

I got some custom labels done for a client some years ago and I remember them being pretty competitive on price and quality although I think you would be lucky to find them at £1.50 per label from anywhere.

Looking at their website, they have picked up some decent clients which must be a good sign.

Edit: Found price list.

Do the labels need to come off ever? Or could a bit of out the box thinking work here?

My trail of thought that could be worth looking into (baring in mind that I haven't looked into pricing)

Large whiteboards (as used in schools) cut down to whatever sizes you needed and secured to your cases..

I'm fairly sure a sharpie wouldnt rub off this material but would come off with the use of iso..

At the moment instead of using removable stickers like I have seen mentioned in this thread, I'm using a laminated piece of A4 paper gaffed to the top of every case, all necessary details get written on this in permanent marker, and then at the end of the hire wiped off using methylated spirits.

Venue location/ hirer and date of pick up/delivery gets written on a bit of gaff in the top left corner of the case.

One thing that had me thinking, was a bit of white perspex, riveted onto the top of the case, would serve the same purpose but alot more durable and more professional looking.

And another local hire comp that I sub hire from has these type of stickers permanently attached to the case. I think they used liquid nails. and then just use permanent marker, and appropriate solvent to wipe it off. Gets a little bit scratched up after a while though.

Whiteboards don't "cut down" neatly - the surface is a brittle, thin melamine which shatters easily and the substrate is equally fragile.

I've used the laminated paper route, and it's OK for temporary labels, but the gaffer tape rips and scuffs after a short while and looks tatty.

The PVC labels with adhesive foam substrate are the best ones to use, and last even longer if the case has a shallow recessed dish to stick them on.

Google does seem to bring up a number of companies selling custom case labels - perhaps a few enquiries will get you the good deal you're looking for?

We couldn't be bothered getting custom printing done, it seemed like too much hassle. Instead we bought standard labels from Flightcase Warehouse and stuck our own ID stickers in the top left hand corner. Looks professional enough, and serves the purpose just fine. We have had to replace stickers on a couple of the most heavily-used cases, but that's a relatively minor problem especially considering how much cheaper it works out.

Haysel Print Services In essex do flight case labels with custom printing on them, not quite as dear as Le Mark from memory, they also do cable labels etc.

Or alternatively, if your not worried about having your logo on the label, then Adam Hall do a Roadtrunk label, which can be brought in packs of 20 or 50 at around the £2 each mark.
