Artnet merge in Chamsys Magicq PC

Hi There,

I want to make a artnet merge in Chamsys Magicq. One artnet source is a macbook pro running MAX MSP and the other source is Chamsys Magicq PC.

In the Magicq setup / DMX IO section I have configured DMX universe 1 to output artnet universe 0-1 and use artnet universe 1-1 as input.

I have patched 8 Martin mac 250 at DMX universe 1 with starting adres 1 and let Chamsys Magicq pc decide the rest of the sequential adresses. In the merge field I have chosen merge (htp merge) and in the merge from field I have used the same adres as the spots are patched on.

I have configured MAX MSP on my mac book pro to send data to artnet universe 1-1 and specifically only to the dimmer channels of the 8 Martin mac 250s. I looked the channels up in the DMX layout PDF. They are the second and third channel of each movinghead. Dimmer and dimmer fine. For example: to drive the dimmer of the spot patched at 1.1 I am sending data to channels 1.2 and 1.3. Etc etc...

So far so good.

When I open the output / view chanels / view DMX window the artnet input shows in the input AND output section.

When I look at output window / View heads / input I can see the dimmer channels of the Mac 250's reacting to the artnet input. When I deselect the input button at the upper right corner of the output window the artnet input does not show at all... This is a little bit confusing. Does this mean the merge is not working?

This monday im going to check my setup at a club and I want to know for shure that my setup is ok and dont waste any valeuble time of my frend who is so kind to make his club and Lighting rig available to me... My question is: did I do my configuration ok?

Cheers,

Manuel

If you deselect the input button in the upper right corner, then you'll start viewing what the MagicQ engine is outputting. However, as far as I recall (if my memory serves me correctly), this will only show what the MagicQ engine is putting out, and not the output of the merge functions.

I'd say your best bet would be to use a utility to listen on Art-Net 0-1 and actually see what MagicQ is outputting on the network, rather than using the Outputs window.

Thanx, will do.

Any suggestions for artnet monitoring software?

Never mind. Found a luminex artnet monitoring tool and it told me that my config is working correctly :)

TNX again Wol! I might have to buy you a beer someday. You have been helping me out a lot lately!
