MrSpeedy
Hello all, After spending a few weeks trawling Ebay finding 2u Rack cases/flight cases and requesting the depth of the case, only to be told it is 10-20mm too short to house my amp, enough is enough, I need some help! The amp is a Crown pulse 2x1100 (its very deep!)The amp is 530mm in depth (From the front handles to the end of the binding posts, measured from the most front point to the most rear point) and 490mm (From the front rack holes to the end of the binding posts, you should be able to work out where I measured from using the picture below). A picture of the amplifier can be found here : http://www.abeltronics.co.uk/amptesting.php?z=C-Audio_Pulse_2x1100# Now the problem is, I cannot find a suitable 2u rack case for this deep beast. Will I have to turn down the road of custom built from a company like flightcase warehouse? Or are there any other suggestions out there?A metal/plywood combination is preferable, Thanks in advance Toby
tolley1466
Been looking on the Flightcase Warehouse website, altough they sell these only up to 450mm, I'm sure they could do you a deal that would fit your amp for not very much more. Other than that, you may want to look at rack cases for computer servers. They're usually very deep. Hope this helps.
whisky-zulu
I used Absolute Casing based in Berkshire to make a custom flight case for my mixing desk so I could get it into my car. They've done a great job of the case with lamiate ply and metal fixtures. I would suggest that if you can't find a standard case that fits then going custom is the only route. MarkPAman
I've been looking for something about that size. Flightcase warehouse do this one which may be big enough.
MrSpeedy
Hi guys Thanks for the info and replies, I have just received an email from what seems like the 1000th ebay seller and I think I have hit a match! The case is 51cm from the Rear of the case (with lid on) from the rack strip, maybe onto a winner here. Thanks again guys Toby
J Pearce
It may be better to have the amp stick out of the rack a short way and have a deeper lid. It makes it much easier to get to the connectors.
