Issues with a Martin Junior 700 fogger

Hi all, I'm a bit stuck so I thought I'd ask for some advice!

I've got a Martin Junior 700 fogger in my hands to "get working" - the problem being incredible weedy output.

Thinking it probably just had air in the pump, I pushed some fluid through with a syringe which seemed to sort it, a dense plume of fog with a decent throw. Once I've put the bottle back on again, the output rapidly drops back to weedy and pathetic and the pump doesn't sound very happy.

What am I doing wrong?

I can't really help that much, but it could be a knackered pump. The pump I believe is a 24v vdo pump (similar or identical to a car fuel pump of all things) I havent looked but I'm sure sourcing a spare wouldn't be too hard

I had problems with mine, there is a modification you can do...

The pump, after pumping out suck back a little, and as these machines age it seems to cause an air lock. this mod stocps the suck back, sorted mine out till it evenutally died.

theres a schematic here

cant find the mod at the moment, the post on here the link to it has expired (it involved cutting a specific track on the main PCB, really easy.)

I'd really appreciate a link to the mod, I've found references to it but none seem to actually say what to do!

I think my confusion with the pump might have been that it is a 24v pump running form a 12v supply which seems a little odd. Bet there you go :)

I've now dismantled it again, and the pump squirts water all over me quite happily when not connected the the output end.

Putting the syringe (with fog fluid) directly on to the feed to the heater bypassing the pump, I can get a stream of fog out but I have to use a *lot* of force, making me wonder if there is a blockage there. Unfortunately, the rest of it uses permanent clips rather that removable Jubilee clips so getting there isn't so easy!

You do have to use a lot of force, that's normal. If you think about it you are fighting against the back-pressure of the fog being produced..

I've not had one of these in bits, but on the bigger Jem machines the pump seals deteriorate over time until they can no longer generate the required pressure. I would try a new pump.
