tokm
Can't say I've ever seen what your asking about, other than some scrollers on each can on a bar of 6.. But could you be thinking of this 'lovely' <_< fixture >> DHA Digital Light Curtain They come in 6 or 8 lamp flavours and well, have a big scroller on the front. niclights
Some huge scrollers definitely did exist. I'm fairly sure it was PRG (or one of its former companies). Whether they are still alive or not is another matter!
adamharman
Used Lighting were selling some on ebay a while ago, along with the fixtures to go with them. Could well have been ex PRG as I've bought stuff from them before with PRG stickers on. Don't know if any are still around but worth giving them a ring. Think they were made by Wybron and called "Garganturam" or something like that???
Joe Bleasdale
http://www.compulite.com/index.php?page_id=10 The first scroller and second to last are the largest I know of. Thanks,
southham
Have 2 of the Wybron Garganturam scrollers mounted on the front of 2 megalites (9 x 2k flood cells per fixture). Awesome, but a real bugger to change the gel strings (and costs a fortune in gel). A great way to heat up the warehouse on a cold morning though!!! The mole scrollers are teeny tiny compared to these babys!!!!

mjdj
yes Production Resource Group (PRG) did do some giant scrollers. I work for them and have seen the scroller gel rolls but I'm afraid I don't know if we still have the actual scrollers or what they were called. Best to give the accounts team at Longbridge a ring they may be able to help.
Smiffy
MJDJ: Patrick Woodroffe (IIRC) was the guy that had them built originally. There's the MegaMole that was created for AC/DC (I think) Although I cannot remember whether this was the fixture or the scroller, however you are correct that the Garganturam was one of the large format scrollers, I'm fairly sure that there were two or three such types kicking around in the 90's. The biggest that I can find that isn't a custom project is the Wybron Large Fomat Coloram IT Cheers Smiffy Edit: MJDJ - Not sure if Carol Croft is still with you guys at PRG but she would certainly know all about them. After that I'd try Robin Wain, Jon Cadbury, or Pete Marshall. They've all been there long enough that they would probably remember them.
scjb
Smiffy, I seem to recall the "MegaMags" being part of the Light and Sound Design ColorMag system. Can't remember the exact size, but probably around 7' x 5'? Long time ago...!
Stuart91
I bought some of the Garganturams from Used Lighting. It is not straightforward to get them working from DMX - you need a dedicated controller and they don't come cheap. In the end we kept the 9x2kW Megalites and are using them as bog standard crowd blinders. The scrollers went for scrap and we took the gel out of them. (The gel itself was probably worth more than we paid for the entire package) One look at the scrolls was enough to tell me that I didn't want to have to get any more made. Can't remember the exact size, but probably around 7' x 5'? Long time ago...! The "Mega-Mag" fitted a "Mega-Pod" which contained 18 (6 x 3) PAR64 lamps, these are larger than the Garganterums which graced ebay a few months ago. Guessing they got thrown in a skip with much of the other LSD gear!
