soulmiester
Hi all.I'm New here and I stumbled across you guys while trying to find out about how to set separate banks on the S4000IEM unit.I have used my unit for years in its factory setting, but I have recently partaken in a 5 piece band. The members were asking me about the unit and we were wondering if it could be used for independent mixes using the mono channels, i.e. left channel holding a separate frequency mix to the other.I got the answer I wanted form trantec, but in doing so I stumbled across an article referring to separate banks with this unit.Could someone explain in layman's terms what this is, how it works, and what the useable benefits are?Like I said I am new here so please be gentle.I did a search to see if this has been covered in a previous thread but couldn't find anything so forgive me if I missed it. Shez
The manual might be of more help than me here, but banks are normally just sets of frequencies that the equipment can operate on. For example, you might have eight banks of eight frequencies each, which, organisationally, is a bit easier to work with than a big block of 64 frequencies. Not only is it quicker to get to the frequency you want, but the manufacturer can group together sets of frequencies that work well together, or sets of frequencies that fall under different licensing regimes for example. paulears
I think you mean can you have one mix connected to the left channel input and another connected to the right? The receivers (I have one sitting here) Do not have an equivalent feature to that on the Sennheisers where you can send left or right to both ear pieces. You could simply make up a headphone cable that would do left or right to both - but don't bother. The separation between left and right is ok for stereo, but it's not got enough separation - there's always some of left in right, and vice versa. It cannot operate on two separate frequencies - so the banks don't really help - as said, they're just convenient batches of channels to make selection easier. Thanks guys for the help, the seperation of the left and right to seperate frequencies isnt an issue as I have sorted that out, and yes it is possible. On the receivers there are jumpers that are factory set to either left chan, right chan or stereo. Default is stereo. These jumpers are on the bottom board and instructions for setting next to them. They’re next to the red LED. Operation uses the channel separation in stereo, the jumpers direct the left channel to both earphones of the left receiver and the right channel to both earphones of the right receiver.Hope this helps people because upto yesterday I was of the same opinion, it couldnt be done. but I have done it so, it works. Its more about understanding the Banks and how they work, it dont go into much detail in the manual. Thanks
