Prometheus - Scriabin.

Dear All

Has anyone been part of a presentation of "Prometheus" by Scriabin?

I'm looking at it with a student to see if it might be an interesting BA Music Tech show control project. I'm particularly interested in the piano transcription.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prometheus:_The_Poem_of_Fire has a few interesting snippets.

Thanks

KC

Nope. The closest I came was a production of the Aeschylus play 40 years ago in university.

However, the idea of doing the "clavier a lumieres" with show control is an interesting one--if 20 minutes of dissonance don't drive you crazy first!

I did some work on that for Sydney Symphony Orchestra, probably some 10 - 15 years ago.

Wasn't all that exciting if I recall correctly.

Hooked up a keyboard (piano keyboard for you computer freaks)to a desk, probably a Jands Hog 1000 'cause I liked those then.

Hog fed DMX into the Sydney Opera House rig to run a bunch of cyc lights lighting up the walls of the Concert Hall.

The pretty SSO pianist played the keyboard - noise from an amp, pretty lights following in sync.

Seemed to work all right, audience liked it, or maybe they were just surprised to see the Concert Hall lit up in bright primary colours!

PM me if you really want me to go into the abyss and see if I can find any paperwork on the show. No guarantees though!

Cheers

Roderick

I was part of the crew that put in Prometheus in Guildford Cathedral many years ago (1996 IIRC). I think the control was all from a lighting desk as per a normal show (I remember carrying the desk up stairs).

Lighting was mainly VL5s and Digital light curtains up the pillars and walls of the cathedral. If I remember rightly the LD was someone from White Light.

Don’t think I have any pictures I’m afraid, and my memory is rather scant of any further detail.
