cgiuk
My school, based in the west midlands, is currently looking at upgrading its stage lighting installation. I was wondering if anyone could recommend any suppliers in the area (or who travel) that can offer installation services and quotations? Thanks in advance everyone. Modge
ALG (www.alg-uk.com) based in Stirchley, Birmingham or CTS (http://www.centraltheatresupplies.co.uk/) also based in south Birmingham are both companies I have a good experience of who would be more than willing to quote to do school installs. CTS I've seen a school install from (The school have since acquired some moving lights and are using limeLIGHT to control them - hence my involvement) and whilst I've never personally looked round a school install from ALG I know them and their other work which has always been to a good standard, IMO. RichW
Try 'School Stage', they specialise in school/college installs and give a very personal service. They are based in West London but work all across the UK. I've seen some installs and they are very tidily finished. www.schoolstage.co.uk
maxjones2000
Try Intasound PA here. I'm pretty certain they do installations, but it would be worth a phone call or email just to check. We use them for hire at our school (as do the local theatre). Their service is really good, as they even managed to send us out a brand new hazer with about 1/2 a days notice! They might not be the cheapest in the world, but their service and friendliness make up for it!Just an idea :D EDIT: also theyre based in Pinvin, Pershore. So I'm not sure how far that is (as it depends where you are in the west midlands), but they might do it.

My old school (in Malvern) had a new lighting bar put in by Stage Electrics, they may be a bit more expensive but they do a good job...
tokm
Would recommend you give Stage Systems (in Loughborough) a shout.. Their facility and general install work, from what I've seen is top notch and they're picking up stack loads of install contracts, so I'm inclined to believe what I've seen and happy to recommend them. If you give Elaine a call and tell her Tom from London Light sent you, I'm sure she'll look after you :) Best of luck, whoever you go with. ianknight
Apologies for a bit of thread necromancy... What your school also needs to consider is service once the install is complete and the facilities are in use. At 13:30 on a Thursday when it stops working and you have a performance at 5pm or 7pm (or what have you) who stands the best chance of putting someone on site if needed - the local company or the company out of area? It doesn't happen often to our installs (my profile says who I work for and I dont want this to be an overt advert) but when it does, folk appreciate having someone on site quite swiftly or on the end of a phone helping to sort it out. The cheapest price in some instances is not always the best option.
