beninjam
Hello all, Just wanted to ask for a bit of advice.I am a student doing some work at my local theatre, and they are having a clearout. I have been offered a Compulite Spark Standard in exchange for my current desk, which is a Zero 88 Illusion 500. I read the manual, and the desk looks good, so has anyone used one and got feedback on whether I should do the exchange? The one thing which struck me was the lack of mentioning pages of submasters in the Compulite manual. Does this desk have them? I'd probably use this desk for allot of busking rather than theatre stack shows, so is the Spark a better busking desk? Thanks for any feedback or comparisons. Ben. Joe Bleasdale
Spark is a VERY out dated desk... I am very Compulite savvy and even I wouldn't voluntarily go back to their older controls. Once they brought the Vector out things changed entirely. But the older stuff, I stay well clear of. However considering you are down south, I can probably put you in contact with people that have the sparks, some of which will be willing to train you (for a charge I should think). PM me if you want me to get you in contact with people. But as a bottom line, I would stick with the Illusion, unless you have a specific urge to change the desk? Hope this helps,
beninjam
That's a great help. Thanks! If the Spark is outdated, then I think it's best to stick with a more modern desk. Now I just have to wait to see a Vector going for some stupidly cheap price... I wish! Thanks alot,Ben.
Joe Bleasdale
Yeah, good choice. If your after a cheap vector hire, I can help ;-) my friend has a Vector Ultra Violet he sends out on a "theatre week" for a very good price. PM me in future if you need a larger desk :-) Thanks,
