Aristotles
I have been using the GrandMA and "Light" for quite a while but am pretty new to trying to connect it to a laptop device to control and play around with, I will be trying it on the "Light" first and was just wondering on what exactly I needed cable/hardware and software wise to make it work? - Michael
Flyingwysiwyg
Michael, I am a little confused as to what you mean. If you are reffering to networking the offline software MA onPC to the desk itself all you need is a CAT5 crossover cable or a Network Switch (or hub if you are just experimenting) and two Standard CAT5 cables. If you are talking about using the desk with a PC Visualiser the same kit is required. To set it up with OnPC the following should work:- Make sure the Ethernet card on the laptop is in the same Subnet as the desk IP address. (e.g. desk 192.168.0.1 and PC: 192.168.0.2) Once you have set a static IP on the Ethernet card you will have to select it in On PC and "re-boot" the MA Software. The Standard IP address on On PC is a loopback address) 127.0.0.1 Whichever desk you wish to be Master (Ususally the desk with the show file) should initiate the session. When the session is active "invite" the other station. They will then work together in Tracking mode or Multi User. (Read Manual for clarification on each). Does this help? Simon. Edit to say: make sure the desk and the OnPC software are the same version!
