Ben99
Hello, I'm working on an exhibition in a gallery space. There's a couple of lengths of tri-lite in the ceiling, I need to make these as unobtrustive as possible (but still need to hang things from them, so can;'t just take them down). It has been suggested that I wrap the truss in a inherently flame retardant white fabric (PVC banner material?) - the fabric could be held on with cable ties,m and slits cut into the fabric at the points where objects are attached to the truss. Has anyone done anything like this? Is there an established way of wrapping/hiding truss - am I trying to reinvent the wheel?Any health and safety reason not to do it (it's a temporary rather than long term install, the fabric will go again when the exhitibion closes)? Any suggestions about a suitable (inherently flame retardant) fabric? Thanks...
mac.calder
If you still need to hang stuff from them, best bet is truss border. Almost any rental place should be able to give it to you. It is just black flame retardant (usually due to flame bar) material that you tie around the truss. Leaves the bottom open so you can hang things off of the apex. If you want complete coverage... Lycra truss socks. Literally a tube of lycra which you stretch over the truss.
subass11
+1 on the truss socks. Make your own, simply get some fabric - flam barred obviously ;) and some wooden battens. tie wrap the wooden battens to both top edges of the ladder cords and simply stretch the fabric round and staple to each wooden point.... Simples. HTH

If they are white, with a white ceiling and white fixtures the whole lot just kind of melts away, done it before on a vertical truss where sightlines were an issue, the whole thing just kind of got lost in the background, looked great! Just cut small nicks in the fabric where you want to hang something.
