digi design profile cue wedge on master fader

Hello All,

Using a digidesign profile as our monitor board, we're using it fine and have no problems apart from one.

We want the master fader as the level control for our cue wedge, I've tried several different ways but its not having it. We're using the encoder knob at the min to control the level that works ok but there must be a way right ?

I've tried patching it but to no avail.

Am I being stupid ?

Any clues ?

Thanks in advance

Hi Andi,

If you click on the OPTIONS tab and then the BUSSES screen, there is a setting under the "SOLO & Monitor Operations" section labelled "Cue on Mains Faders". If you check this box the master fader will then do exactly what you want it to do without any other patching.

Hope this helps!

Cheers for that but we dont have that button, I think our software needs updating.

We have version 2.7.1.6

But you think that would be on all versions of the software, or maybe its somewhere else on older boards

Have you ever updated it ? is it easy ?

Hi Andi,

Our boards are up to date with Version 2.8.5, and I believe this feature was added in Version 2.8

I'd highly recommend keeping the board up to date, as it has numerous useful additions to the software, as well as ensuring stability with any plug ins etc. I am about to upgrade ours to the newest 2.9 version. The process is easy, you just put in the upgrade CD from Digidesign and restart the FOH rack, following the provided instructions to boot from the CD and restore the console to the new version. You do have to reinstall the plug in's if you completely wipe and restore but there may be an upgrade option as well.

A possible work around is to patch the monitor outputs to two local outputs and with cables link these back in to two local inputs. Patch these two local inputs to a unused fx return stereo channel, route only this fx return to the L+R stereo bus, and turn the fader up. Then patch the L+R outputs to where you want your listen wedge to be. This should give you a solo level on the L + R fader. Be careful not to solo the fx return you have used as the link, since this will create a digital feedback loop! This is also useful if you want to have the monitor outputs always feeding an IEM system and have a wedge on a fader for example.

Cheers,

Neil

I got our version wrong, its 1.7, and we have to buy the upgrade to 2.0, then upgrades are free till it goes to 3.0

Does anyone know how much the upgrade to 2.0 is ? The desk is under a year old, its a bit sh*t to star paying out already.

I would check with who you purchased the console from, I know Digidesign were offering free upgrades to 2.8 from 2.7, and also to 2.9 from 2.8 if you had purchased the console within a certain time frame.

Also, 1.7 is really old software, and I think any console purchased within the last year should have been running at least 2.7

I would contact one of the UK distributors such as Wigwam, SSE or HD Pro Audio for advice on obtaining the latest software upgrades.

Cheers,

Neil

I would also recommend checking with the vendor who sold you the desk. Version 2.7.1 came out in 2008. A desk that is less than a year old should have come with at least something as new as 2.5 year old software.
