Ashley R
Hi all I am on the hunt for a nice set of Pozi Drive electricians insulated screwdrivers. After asking around at Electrical Wholesalers and tool stores, it seems no one here in Victoria (Aust) seems to stock any. Im open to any suggestions from anywhere in the world. As im willing to get them shipped here. Ive found sparky's screwdrivers to generally have much nicer handles on them than normal ones, one of the reasons why they must be sparkys ones. 2nd one is that they will be occasionally be used by a sparky on jobs, seems that contactors all seem to have pozi driv screws on them. Links to online stores preferable. Thanks for your help Ashley
david.elsbury
What's the intended use? You can get screws that are "multi-drive" which will take either a philips bit, or a Robertson (square) bit. Square bit obviously much more preferable in that it won't strip the thread and much more of a secure fitting.
Bobbsy
AFAIK, electricians only tend to work with a couple of standard sizes, especially with Pozi Driv. That may be why you're having trouble finding full "sets". If you only need the two "normal" electricians' ones, RS AUSTRALIA have a decent pair--bought some a couple of years back and they're fine. However, if you want a more comprehensive set, I don't have any more suggestions. Bob
Yorkie
I like the Wera Kraftform VDE Plus, I've had them about 6 months. They make two 7 piece sets, each has 4 flat blades, a voltage tester screwdriver (which I would recommend you don't use) and then a pair of Phillips or Pozis. (Make sure you get the cross head that you want). I just found them on the web near you here: http://www.naed.com.au/wera-kraftform-plus-series-100vde-slotted-pozi-7pce-p-2608.html Ouch... It looks like they double the price to sell them where you are, a full set is about £25 here
Ashley R
Uses, could be absolutely anything. Ranging from pulling apart Lighting gear to doing up screws in electrical items (switchboards, contactors, industrial machinery). Really anything that I identify as useing a Pozi drive screw. Bob I was only after a set, as I was not sure exactly what sizes I would need. Edit: Thanks Bob, this seems to be exactly what I was after. thanks! and at a not to bad price as well B-)
timtheenchanteruk
Ill second the weras, most of the drivers form their range are fine, not sure why you are having difficulty finding sets, cpc do a duratool 7 pc set for about £18, they not too bad,, especially if they get lost/"borrowed"most sparks sets include pozis, its a common screw, my poxi gets a better purchase on consumer units than the appropriate slot on thos orrid combi screws. handyandi
3rd recommendation for the WERA's used them on live stuff & available through RS australia. Only broke one recently due to levering with a flat blade but other than that they've lasted 15 years so far of daily use. Link here
Andrew C
Pozi only really comes in 4 sizes. 0pt, 1pt, 2pt, and 3pt. 1 & 2 are the normal mid sized ones. 0 is a tad bigger than a large jewlers driver and 3 is used for 6mm woodscrews and above. Roughly!
ChazHS
I have to say I've always liked the CK VDE drivers, very good quality and mine have lasted a fair few years.
musht
Add a vote for Wera and Wiha also make very nice drivers. http://au.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=wiha Price of tools that have to fit fasteners is always saved in time , scraped knuckles and sweary words, same with spanners. Just practice this phrase "No, you can`t borrow it" ;-)
jonathanhill
This Wera VDE set is great. You get 4 slots, PZ1 and 2, PH1 and 2, PZ/S1 and 2, PH/S1 and 2, four service keys and one handle. http://www.screwfix.com/prods/51409/Hand-Tools/Screwdrivers/VDE-Screwdrivers/Screwdriver-Blades-Handle If you do not require it to be VDE, this set is excellent: http://www.screwfix.com/prods/59823/Hand-Tools/Screwdrivers/Ratchet-Bit-Holding-Screwdrivers/Wera-Bits-Assortment-Set-17Pcs Very highly recommended. I currently use CK VDE screwdrivers, but they have changed the handle design, so I will be replacing with Wera when I need to.

Try this one, and the intentional suppliers are here :)
ramdram
Certainly agree with the above choices plus some kit made in Spain by Irozola, not cheap tho', as an example: http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?hl=en&expIds=17259,27585,27846,27955&xhr=t&q=irazola&cp=4&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=3846478119713814572&ei=ofklTazkDIS3hAepl_DnAQ&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=1&sqi=2&ved=0CCkQ8wIwAA# or http://www.electricians-direct.co.uk/electricians-tools/irazola-tools.html Having spent a bob or two on electricians screwdrivers I find I use them all the time on whatever job, saves carrying two sets (and just in case you put a woodscrew through timber into a cable..."inadvertently"...like you do, ** laughs out loud **). Ashley R
Thanks to all that posted, I have found what I was after, and from an Australian supplier as well, and they look like good value for money. :** laughs out loud **: Thanks again Ashley Just practice this phrase "No, you can`t borrow it" ;-) Wish I could, as no one else ever brings any tools, I always end up lending mine out so they can do the work I assign them, (school environment I'm talking about) and I'm the only one who carries a leatherman when doing shows... Can really get annoying sometimes, only just recently lost my nice 200mm Fuller adjustable spanner. Oh well doesn't really matter just chuck the cost of a new one onto the bill, now I've just to go out and get one...
