Johnno
We've just got an Acer P5290 that has a socket for a wired remote control but I can't find any info anywhere about the devices. The handbook clearly shows one connected but gives no details whatsoever. I asked Acer's helpline and they said "It has an IR remote". I said "Golly Gosh, I already know that!". Can anyone throw any light on projector control? EDIT Handbook pdf, see page
Matt Riley
Yep - first off there's RS232 control - used by crestron, AMX and other very expensive systems. You can also get similar well priced controllers from CPC for about £100. In terms of wired remote control, the way we've always done it, it's normally a minijack connector, one end of which goes into the IR remote, and the other into the projector. Use the standard pin configuration, and you will be freed from the chore of waving the remote at the projector, hoping it turns on! Alternatively, just buy a lead ready made from cpc. Johnno
Thanks for the prompt reply but there isn't a socket in the IR handset, and that's my problem! I already knew about RS232 but don't want to use a computer if a handset is available somewhere. EDIT: I've just found IKON AVS RS232 remote projector controllers in the CPC catalogue and these may be what I need.
