ranvier
Hi everyone, thanks taking the time to read this thread. I was recently using a Barco ScreenPro 2 to output a resolution of 1280x720 (aspect ratio 16:9), through an Extron VGA short patch cable, into the VGA port my Panasonic PT-DW6300ES projector. The input signal was through an Extron DVI short patch cable from my Macbook Pro, using a minidisplayport to DVI adapter, to the BG 1 input port. The EDID of the ScreenPro 2 was programmed to be 1280x720 too. Everything was looking fine, until the setup during the show day, when apparently, I used 2x 30m VGA cables to send the signal into 2x PT-DW6300ES, one each from my PROGRAM 1 and 2 VGA port outlet, the display shows a totally scrambled image. Someone kindly put a name to this problem, I really can't find the word to this... I can't recalled the exact settings we did, but after changing the H&V "Sync Out" in the "Settings" sub menu of the "Output" menu, the image comes back to normal. This is so very weird, I look forward to anyone who can kindly enlighten me. Thank you.
mac.calder
Could be dodgy cables? Maybe try grabbing a multi-meter and just checking that the pin-out is straight through (look up the sync pins online or grab a set of VGA->tails to speed up the process). lobba
Hi ranvier. 1280x720 is the only true 'crossover' resolution between Video and Data resolutions, unusual (for a video res) because its progressive (rather than interlaced), but there are still differences. As a video res a device would probably be looking for a tri-level sync (or sync on green possibly as you're running analogue) and a YUV colourspace, but as a Data res the device would be looking for separate H and V syncs and and RGB colourspace. It will all depend on the projectors lookup tables for a particular input as to which it's most happy with so changing the sync type probably just made the projector happier with the incoming signal. Degradation over that distance on VGA could also be a factor but I would expect it just to be a bit soft/smeary. Hope that helps Lobba

However, when I used a short patch cable from Extron to send signal out from the program out of the ScreenPro 2 to the projector, there was no such issue... Puzzling. Johnparrack
Sounds like a faulty sync line on a cable, perhaps distance causing it..other issues are sometimes the sync polarity btween the sp11 and the proj....usually find most happy with a pos neg set up..sometimes worth changing it if you are having issues. but in this case, cable length and a dodgy cable..would never run cables of vga type for that distance, just because of the ringaround/smearing that you will see over that distance.
