melkin
Hi guys, I have 2 x Le Maitre Neutron XS Haze machines at work that were brought earlier this year that are soon to be quite heavily used for the good old panto season to make my lighting look pretty!!! so I was looking for a way for me to control them from my control room. I have seen you can get a DMX remote for them but they are quite pricey. I just wandered does anybody know if I would need one remote for each unit or can I use a 3 pin splitter. Also does this just provide me with an on/off switch by me in the control room or can I vary the output via this remote. Or does anybody know of any other way to control them without the physical turning on/off of the red switch on the back of the unit and is there any way at all of varying the flow output?? Also is it right that I can manually turn the output down from inside the unit and if so how do I do this? Many thanks in advance for any advice. RobertKendall
Hello, We stock the Neutron XS as well as the DMX Remote, both I think are over priced. The easiest (and cheapest!) way to control them is to use a DMX switch or even to run a long power extension back to the lighting desk!
ChrisBogg
Sorry Robert, I understand the switch thing but you cant just pull power to a Neutron XS with out damaging the element. The XLR connector forms a simple switch with two of the pins, someone will be along who still have one around to tell you which pins but you can just make a button on an XLR connector and run mic cable to the control position. that's always worked for me. melkin
Hey guys, Yeah I managed to create one today by running down our XLR tie lines which comes out in my control room and putting a switch in to join up pins 2 and 3 and there you have it a free version of the DMX remote which lists at £140 ish. we have 2 scrollers so it would have cost us £280 ish to achieve the same thing that cost me absolutely nothing and it all worked fine when I used them for a show tonight and is just great to have control myself rather than asking a casual to switch off the haze over cans but not the power and they inevitably turn the unit off thus damaging it as you say!! Nicktaylor
I bought a couple of these secondhand a while ago along with two 150 smoke machines. I bought the DMX converter box for the latter. Will that work with the hazer? Hey guys, Yeah I managed to create one today by running down our XLR tie lines which comes out in my control room and putting a switch in to join up pins 2 and 3 and there you have it a free version of the DMX remote which lists at £140 ish. we have 2 scrollers so it would have cost us £280 ish to achieve the same thing that cost me absolutely nothing and it all worked fine when I used them for a show tonight and is just great to have control myself rather than asking a casual to switch off the haze over cans but not the power and they inevitably turn the unit off thus damaging it as you say!! Regards I suspect what you achieved was the equivalent of the switch that controls the haze, ie not the power switch. The idea of DMX is that you can set the "volume" of haze so it has the right effect rather than on or off. However interested to here you have work the pins out. That means remotes from other devices may work
J Pearce
The neutrons have no level control as far as I am aware. They are on or off.
SoLiEn
I was under the impression the only way to alter haze output on a neutron XS was by turning the little pot under the cover, so all the control you have over said machine when it is in operation is on and off.. robloxley
AFAIK the remote works with the hazer and G150 but only gives variable output with the
tom_the_LD
Just to say that, at the time of writing, Impact Production Services in Milton Keynes have a Neutron XS hazer remote for sale listed on their ex-hire/for sale items.
graemeftv
Neutron hazer - DMX remote control It is possible to control the and vary 0 - 100% the amount of haze produced via a DMX remote (code 2971 from le maitre) the standard DMX le maitre remote only allows you to turn on and off the machine and fan - non vary output however a very simple modification can be made for this to happen and get the 0 - 100% adjustment - pm for a diagram option 2you can present your own sub £50 DMX analogue card to the unit and connect to the units 3pin xlr on the rear. option 3to make your own very simple (1 variable 100k resistor) remote control connected to the rear xlr or installed in the back of the machine the 3 pin xlr ispin 1 = groundpin 2 = 0 to +10v input to the machine 0v = haze off +10v = haze onpin 3 constant 12v supply from machine - used to power your DMX controller
