Hi can anyone suggest an affordable multi output soundcard to be used on a Mac running q lab to give me 6 outputs? I don't mind if it's firewire or usb price is the main thing. Basically I need a left and right out, up stage left and right and rear left and right. I have upgrade the q lab licence so I have all outputup just need the card

Hey there. Tricky question I think as its not clear what physical connection you need these 6 outputs to be on, that is, do you need 6 x 1/4" TRS, would it matter if the

output was in a multichannel digital format (ADAT etc) Also, around what price were you thinking...low as poss?

Cheers

one place you might look is Studiospares, computer zone, audio interfaces. you can then use their filters to specify numbers of analogue inputs and outputs, price, etcetera.

there are plenty of other suppliers, eg dolphin music, dv247, gear4music, but I don't know if their filters allow you to search so specifically, so it might be a longer process....

Please use the search in the top right, this has been covered many times

That didn't work then :wall:

Well, no actually. Out of interest, I just typed the question into the search box, and it simply led me back to this very thread! :D

(maybe the question was too specific)

would the Behringer U-Control UCA222 work if I used the 2 internal outputs as L and R and the L and R on the soundcard as upstage and rear stalls outputs with Q lab?

Yes, QLab will support multiple cards, but they would have to be two separate sound files - there's a patch for each sound cue to a sound card. However the internal outputs are likely to be a bit more noisy and more likely to fail (minijack isn't the securest of connections) so I would use the external sounds card for L&R and use the internal outs for the upstage and rear channels.

Other risk using the internal is that you get all the operating system noises (when you press an invalid key or adjust the volume etc) so you'll have to turn off as many of those as you can.

A concurrent post has been automatically merged from this point on.

Also - look at Aggregate Audio Devices - OS X will combine multiple sound cards into one sound card that the software sees, so you have one four-output soundcard in QLab, with Ch1 & 2 to the external Behringer (or other), and Ch3 & 4 to the internal outs.

Hi thanks for the help,

I have got my Behringer sound card and now I'm one step away from doing what I want to. The last problem is getting the 4 outputs to work. I have plugged my sound card in and all I seem to be able to get is sound out of the internal or external not both. When I go to the preferences and select patch 2 to USB audio codec it only gives me outputs 1 and 2 the same as the built in. How do I get it so I can use all 2 outputs, I am not a q lab wiz.
