Dodgecaliber Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 All, Wanted to pass on some bad news, Dodge (Chris) was involved in a pretty serious accident in Glasgow today. Rushed into hospital after totalling his car because someone came around the corner too fast and caused him to swerve and hit a brick wall. Hes had around 30 X Rays done and there is a lot of concern for his spine and hip with some damage to his hand. Had to get cut out the car by the fire service but thankfully it doesn't appear to be as serious as first thought. Hes getting kept in overnight at the very least and determined to be back by the end of next week for a big event hes working on. Just wanted to let everyone know because I know hes awaiting some responses to PM's regarding kit. (Ross, Roy, Mathew, Adam etc and his other friends there is no way to get in touch as his phone is knackered) Cheers, Pam (The Mrs)
gareth Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Sorry to hear about that - but very glad to learn that Chris lived to fight another day. Maybe he could get copies of all those x-rays and turn them into a unique kind of photo album - would make a great talking point as a coffee-table book! As for rushing back to work at the end of next week - are you sure it's worth it? I've seen what happens when someone gets back to hard physical work too soon after an injury like this - it only ends up worse as they haven't had enough time to heal properly before subjecting themselves to the punishment of a get-in or some such thing. Take the time to convalesce and get properly better. You gotta look out for your health and well-being, because if you don't no-one else will.

andy_s Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 best wishes for a speedy recovery. (I got to keep my skull xrays after a (much more minor) RTA a few years ago - an interesting if slightly macabre souvenir...)

These things take longer to get over than you might think.
pritch Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Or some nice gobos.... Hmmm... X-Rays + Selecon Pacific = Worth a try? All the best, Dodge; as Gareth said, take it easy for a bit. Here's to a speedy recovery, though.
MatthewMastersonS.A.L. Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Hi Pam. I’m one of the people that Chris has spoken to about equipment for next weekend. You can let him know that the movers we spoke about are available and if there is anything else I can do to help then let me know. Hope he is doing okay. Matthew MM Sound and Lighting
rossmck Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Somehow I can also imagine he has 30 new gobos ... :) Hope Chris recovers quickly :(
adamski1010 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Hi Pam,I hope Chris recovers quickly. StevieR Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Really sorry to hear that. My best wishes to him while he recovers. Steve
Smiffy Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Sorry to hear about Dodge! Hope he's doing okay and back at home soon. Fully agree with Gareths advice. If Dodge is a member of the PSA, then this is just the sort of thing the PSA Support fund is there for. Worth letting them know about it and then convalescing properly. Cheers Smiffy
Ynot Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 100% HELL YES!!Mrs Dodge - DO NOT let the man back to work on anything more strenuous than a mobile phone, and THEN only 5 minutes every hour!I'm serious. As a mere strapling I had a d1ckhed speed round a bend and come to a sudden and resounding stop by mangling the front of my car with his. (Photos of car available...).Almost 30 years later I am STILL a martyr to my spine problems, and they weren't major injuries back then... SO TAKE IT EASY MAN!!!!(Though best wishes on the recovery)
rossmck Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I spoke to him today - he seems to be recovering well :P Ynot - I sympathise entirely. When I was 20 (not that long ago to be honest :)) I was involved, as a passenger, in a serious accident on the A69. I still have problems with my back as a result of it and I felt fine (well, a bit shaken) at the time :)
Dodgecaliber Posted November 22, 2010 Author Posted November 22, 2010 Hi gang, It's nice to know im loved! Hope the place held up ok without me! A very kind prick felt it was of benefit to fly round a tight bend on a country road and forced me to swerve ending up in a wall. When I came to I was being cut out the car and taken to hospital. Had about 30 X-Rays done and was kept in but now im bright as a daisy. They think my muscles spaz'd and my bones didn't like the impact but to be honest, it doesn't feel like anythings happened! Thanks to all the kind messages of support, it really is good to know you've got friends out there. Now I've got a convertable too! Dodge
