Xiquzor
hey all, I have the following problem with a Genius next series scanner (150W).One of the scanners has a broken shutter stepper motor. The motor has thefollowing number on it: 17HS0601-3. Its a moons motor I've been looking for a replacement motor, because this version is no longer available. But on the official site of moons I can't even find the specs of this motor. http://www.moons.com.cn/moonsweb/english/17hD.htm Somewhere on this forum I found these specs, but I don't know if this is correct... StepAngle 1.8MotorLength 34HoldingTorque 1.6MaximumTemperature 130RatedCurrent 0.28PhaseInductance 21PhaseResistance 44RotorInertia 38DetentTorque 120 (because when I measure the resistance on the phases its 34ohms, but that could be altered because the motor is broken) Now my actual question is, what would be a good replacement motor?I was thinking about the 17HD0013 http://www.moons.com.cn/moonsweb/english/17hD.htmthose specs are close but don't completely match up so.... tnx

DrV
If both phases measure 34 ohms then I would hazard a guess that this is correct. If one measures very different from the other then it is probably faulty. However, if the motor is being driven by a proper current controlled driver like a 3771 or 3772 then the resistance of the motor will not be terribly important, well not as important as if it uses a simple driver like a ULN2803. I would think you'll get away with it but it might be prudent to increase the current sense resistors by 30% or so if you are using a motor with a resistance as low as 30 ohms/phase. I've got a 17HD0013 in front of me and it does indeed measure 29.1 and 29.4 on each phase. Not a complete answer but it might give you food for thought. KevinE
Lots of disco lights use those Shanghai Moons motors, Coemar, Abstract AVR, GLP etc, it might be worth browsing through a few parts lists of other light effect units to see if there's a similar one, sometimes you can get away with one with a longer shaft and then cut it down.
