Best places to buy moving lights

Hi BR,

 

A venue has asked me to look into getting some moving lights for their club. They already have a few fairly good pro fixtures so I'm guessing they don't particularly want to go down the uber cheap moving light route.

 

Just wondering what are some of the good websites to get a wide range of moving lights, ones that have the DJ stuff but also show the pro stuff. Or places that have good offers on fixtures made by Martin, Clay Paky, Robe etc.

 

Thomann seem to be the only place I really know for variety but only show a fine selection of heads and scans.

You have the choice of the usual theatrical suppliers - so AC, who have PM's above are one of the usual firms who do this kind of stuff, but if you put

 

theatre lighting suppliers

 

into Google and just search the UK, you bring back many of the other firms often mentioned on here.

 

Any attempt to produce a list would be futile, as we're bound to miss some, who would be excellent.

 

Locality is often important so you have virtually doorstep service and backup. If this is important, just contact your local theatre and ask who they would normally use - it's unlikely they will use expensive or unreliable suppliers.

 

People like AC and SLX don't really worry where you are - they're nationals, other companies are more regional in style.

I am going to further the request from AC. I have bought stuff from them, they have bought stuff from me and in both sets of circumstances, they are always speedy and reliable. I have both friends and contacts within AC and they have a pretty decent product range available to you. If you want used, Solaris is good and is opening a European area, then there is the usual Gearsource Europe too. Both good companies.
