SteveKimpton Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 We have an old Scenilux follow spot. There is no model number that we can find but it is 36V 400W. Pictures of 575HMI on a couple of French web sites look right but I think they are for 575W models. Anyway, the condenser lens is now broken and we'd like to get a replacement. It's a shade over 60mm in diameter and about 28mm thick. Any suggestions please? Steve
Brian Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 How broken? The missing info is the focal length. If it's still in enough pieces then take it outside and focus the sun onto a bit of card. Measure the distance from the lens to the card. Voila, the focal length. With that info any lens supplier will be able to help. Try British Optical.
SteveKimpton Posted November 18, 2010 Author Posted November 18, 2010 Thanks Brian. It is shattered but the holder is keeping it together well enough to do focal length measurements. I think the focal length is about 40mm but I'm not certain where the optical centre is when looking at an extremely fat plano convex lens. Maybe half way through? I've tried searching the web but I only found two or three manufacturers who supplied that kind of lens and they all jumped from 50mm diameter to 70mm diameter, regarless of focal length - I need 60mm diameter. I guess we may end up buying a new follow spot - any recommendations for a poverty stricken Am Dram oufit?
adamharman Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I've got mine from Knight Optical, but I'm not sure what size it was now. They had a good range of stock sizes and I think they did custom ones too.
