Andrew C
Moderation: We really don't like doing peoples homework for them. You will get a better response if you ask a few structured questions, and have more care with your spelling and grammar.
andy_s
I agree with Andrew C (unsurprisingly). A good way to carry out research for this assignment would be to identify some appropriate companies to demonstrate a number of potentially different working practices, and contact these companies directly to ask for their help in supplying you with their Stage Management Job Description. Keep in mind that not all enquiries will bear fruit as theatre companies are often busy, so unsolicited emails may not be top of the priorities list for answering. Lists of theatre companies can be found in Contacts, with (there's a clue in the title) their contact details . . . . Good luck. Andy

Seeing as Equity are a union, then one has to think that it's somebody else's job. No crossing the demarcation lines, brother.

paulears
Well thanks so much for not making this clear in your first post! If you don't ask a proper question, how are we supposed to know what you want. You may note one of the other mods did mention the importance of decent question, spelling and punctuation - we note you didn't bother. well I didn't want to know what the role was. my aim of this was to get in contact with stage managers to know what stage managers do in diffrent types of organisations such as an s.m in a small touring company will do more like take on the role of dsm and cm in conparason to something like a playhouse sm. sorry if this caused any confusion I didnt mean for it to come off like a student looking for answers. andy_s
If you want to contact stage managers, why not try the Stage Management Association. they have a website. I would still suggest that if you want to know what stage managers do in different contexts, you are better off contacting the companies directly to ask what they expect their stage managers to do for the money, rather than contacting stage managers.... the companies may be happpy to supply the job description they use when recruiting staff.
