Strand 300 wheel issue

I've been programming a Strand 320i over the weekend but have been unable to get channel control via the wheel. Not the end of the world, but a bit of a pain. I've checked all the obvious set up paramenters and can't find anything to explain the problem. Given the age and condition of the desk I suspect its a broken wheel, but can anyone suggest a setting I might have missed.

Do you mean a 320?

There's a Strand 300, and a Strand 520i, but as far as I know the 320i is a stranger to me...

However, if you mean a 300, then yes the main channel wheel is renowned for having problems - indeed, ours is exhibiting dicky fits every now and then.

The 500 series, I believe, were a little more robust.

On a 500 series desk, the wheel is connected directly to the shaft of the encoder using a compression fit.

If a wheel stops working on a 500 desk, I'd look at the wiring between the encoder and the board it plugs into. The encoders in 500s are quite robust devices and rarely go wrong

On a 300 series, the wheel is connected to the encoder via a drive belt. These belts perish with time and need to be replaced either with another drive belt or, if you're not too fussed, a rubber band will suffice.
