Bottom end movers and other equipment

Over the past umpteen years, we've had tons of posts where people have been looking to buy cheap end movers and get the usual responses about doom, gloom, wasted money etc etc - but I'm firmly of the opinion that for many reasons, people will buy these - but we never seem to get anybody come back and tell us how good or bad their purchases actually were.

We've had all sorts recently including some which did appear to have decent specs, and reasonable prices.

I'm suggesting that if you have bought cheap kit - even to include low price LED equipment, then why not write a few words about it. You may be over the moon, or deeply disappointed, but this would be really useful to any member considering through necessity or desire to do the same.

Just the make and model in the Topic Title Box, and Review in the Topic Description would make searching simple.

So if the cheap product worked for you - tell us about it because it's very useful data to assist others. If, however, the product was flawed in some way, it would be good to know about it. Even if two people add a positive and negative post about a single product, this too does help.

Personally, I feel that it's become almost automatic to advise against anything from an unknown or far eastern manufacturer without any background at all, and I'm certain that some of this kit would be excellent value for money for certain users.

Have you got any kit of this type? If so, tell us the good bits and bad. Stick to the facts. Describe what it is, and what it does. Tell us how tough it is - does the plastic flex and crack or is it really solid. Have you had issues? If so, what were they and did they get resolved. Have you had to return anything to the dealer/distributor, and was this a good or stressful experience.

Any disasters or exceptional performance you weren't expecting?

Tell us what you like and what you hate, and finally - would you recommend others buying the same product?

As long as comments are "It is simply dreadful, because ..." This is fine - we know what it did that made you form the opinion. All we usually get are comments advising people based on history, or what somebody said in the pub. Real first hand evaluation by a user is worth so much more to other prospective buyers.

If people think this a daft idea - I won't be offended, but I've been about to buy some bits and pieces at least 3 or 4 times this year and in the end, not bothered because I has no user comments to go on - just rumour.

I have used cheap movers in the past 'I-solution 250iMSD' on a few school shows. Although I would prefer to use Robe or Martin heads, these surprisingly performed OK. The down side is the speed of the motors and the original gobos are not fantastic, but these can be changed. For a school show, or band who have a tight budget and wants moving heads, these fit into the catagory nicely imo. They retail about the £679 mark, so not expensive. I know a local college has a pair of them and has not had any problems with them since they were bought 3 1/2 years ago, and the students give them a little bit of a hammering to be fair.

CPC also stocks them, perhaps our friend from CPC will be along in a bit to give his opinion on them.

Josh did the kind of thing I was imagining, and included the kind of thing I was thinking about.

To trunker - if you can wrack your brains and maybe copy and paste the above and other useful info on the performance of these into a separate topic, that would be good. The basic info here is useful, but needs fleshing out a bit with any other info you picked up while using them.
