Portable Lighting

Hi,

We have a production in 2 weeks for "It's a Wonderful Life" and we have 4 angels, sitting on stairs/seats with wheels.

I know this is a vague description, but we need to somehow light the angels using fixtures "on board" the seats. This presents an issue of power. They frequently move from one side of the stage to the other (the production is in traverse), and so I was thinking of using a 12v car battery to power LED strips. This may be a little too complicated, I was wondering if anybody had any ideas?

I know LED's take a very low power, would a 9-volt battery be a practical thing to look into?

I am also open to any other ideas in lighting the angels, we would use followspots, but that would mean having 6 instead of the 2 we have already.

Thanks!

J

EDIT: I forgot to mention that we need to control the lights, so maybe wireless DMX? Or just a switch that the actors can control.

Led lighting tape is available from several suppliers, most types require a 12 volt supply.

The tape that I used has a loading of about 5 watts per metre. A 9 volt battery wont be suitable.

Up to a metre or two of tape may be powered from 9 or 10 AA cells in series, or from a small 12 volt sealed lead acid battery.

If a more directional light is required, then 12 volt LED MR16s may be worth considering, power as above.
