mike7172
within the garageband platform is it possible to assign a channel to a designated output of a soundcard?ive been able to route inputs no problem, but want each channel to go to an individual output and there doesnt seem to be any control for this? any help would be great, I suspect the answer would be to upgrade to logic express but if theres an easier way of doing it that'd be great! mervaka
sorry to be an evangelical FOSS advocate, but this sounds like a good application for Ardour. EDIT: I should point out that I said the above because it harnesses JACK, which can route audio around synchronously and effortlessly.

bassnote
Garageband has many limitations - though is lovely software and is brilliant in its own right! Ardour is donation ware which is nice - though I haven't experimented with it myself.. but before anyone can really recommend any software for you to use, can you tell us what you are trying to achieve?? as it maybe a job for completely different software... Solstace
I've found Reaper far easier to use than Ardour, though I've not looked at the latter. Reaper costs a bit after evaluation, but for personal use or smaller commercial use pricing is in "Garageband/iLife upgrade" territory rather than "Logic/Cubase/Nuendo" territory. Couldn't recommend it enough.
mike7172
cheers guys, all im doing with it is routing it into an ethersound network for virtual soundcheck.im using audinate's virtual soundcard, and literally want to send channel 1 to output 1, 2 to 2 etc etc.as I say I can route the inputs but not the outs, it seems I have to just upgrade. I'll look into reaper also!thanks again
