RoyS
Hi All Am considering buying 4x Mac250+’s, second hand for secondary school use - as opposed to new 4x Acme whatever’s. Any thoughts? Cheers Roy

mac.calder
I would prefer to cut off my right hand over being stuck with Mac250+'s.... Biggest mistake Martin have ever made.
Ashley R
an Acme equivalent I would say is the I Move 250s but they have almost as many features in them as a Mac Entour. I have played with the I Move's as I was contemplating purchaseing a pair of them but then I went for the Pure Relyabity Solo 250, which is just about as basic as the Mac 250+, I beleive thier next model up is the PR Pilot 250 which has the added feature of selectable beam angles as a crude iris. I would actually go down the Acme route as this will be a brand new unit opposed to one that's 7-8+ (I think!) years old. Even though parts are still available they wont be cheap... On a side note, Mac why do you hate the 250's so badly? Ive never used one but I have used the Entour which I think is a pritty good 250w head. I just wished that it had an iris.... The 250+ is an unreliable piece of junk in my experience. I have had nothing but trouble with them, their output (comparatively with other 250's) is sub-par... Just hate the damn things. paulears
When did PR Lighting turn into Pure Reliability, rather than Pearl River? I bought a few Pearl River Pilot 250s and they were actually rather good - and still going after quite a few unserviced years!
RoyS
.... Wouldn't mind four new Acme iMove 250's (or similar) but have a strict budget limit of 2.5K..... Roy

I bought a few Pearl River Pilot 250s and they were actually rather good - and still going after quite a few unserviced years! Its allwase been Pure Reliability? Well everyone here sells them under the Pure Reliability brand. and the PR website even shows them being Pure Reliability, not Pearl River. (www.pr-lighting.com) And on their Flight cases the name Pure Reliability is printed on them http://www.pr-lighting.com/uploadfile/prod...91028154256.jpg
RoyS
I wouldn't mind 4 of these... if I had the budget... http://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?id=ACM...semode=category
Ashley R
I wouldn't mind 4 of these... if I had the budget... http://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?id=ACM...semode=category Try looking at the Pure Reliability /Pearl River Solo 250 or the Pilot 250. For example the I Move 250s comes in at arround $2000 here whilst the PR Solo 250 has been as low as $1000 but averages more arround $1100 inc a Phillips MSD 250/2 Lamp, so they could be well within your budget. Richard CSL
Why not look ath these , they are cheaper , more powerful, and come with a 3 year guarentee. http://www.thomann.de/gb/stairville_mh_575_s_moving_head.htm
LXbydesign
I have never had any problems with the MAC 250+ Due to an order glich last year I ended up using a load for our panto - they were fine! Nothing amazing of course but not bad for a bit of gobo wash / specials and the odd whizzy whizzy.
