Motu 8Pre

Ok, so at college they have just installed another MOTU 8pre (They had one connected via firewire) yet the second isnt noted on the patch bay yet. (its plugged in somewhere though!) I was wondering if (when they get round to labelling the patch bay) I can run them both simultaneously in logic without installing additional software? (although I will probably just use the digi 003 with protools, or can I use the motu's with Pro tools?) hmmm, questions eh?!

I've attatched some pictures (if you can make them out!)

I have the 8pre - excellent units.

You can run these stand alone as an 8 channel analogue to ADAT converter (ie with no computer connected). If you are not using the ADAT inputs on the 1st 8pre (the one connected to the computer), simply link the two units via their respective ADAT inputs/outputs and that will give you your 16 analogue input channels

I might be guessing this will be someone from my class.

Anyway your you can use ADAT into the Digidesign hardware that we got although we aint used it yet and I don't think the technicians will let us play about with connecting stuff up that way.

Whats wrong with Logic at the min? Im sure we will be allowed to play with ProTools soon.

Yeah its dave ;)

Thats what I was thinking that they wouldnt let us play around with it, I was merley just curious ** laughs out loud **.

That second motu is causing all sorts of problems at the moment, in the end (me and peza above had a session last friday) Bret just unplugged it and everything seemed kinda normal, except the studio returns, im guessing they will sort everything out soon though ** laughs out loud **.
