tommulliner
Good evening ladies and gentlemen, Now, I am not a sound person, but I will try to explain things as well as I can :D I have (my school has) four Sennheiser microphone lapel systems. Each with one belt pack (G3) transmitter, and one receiver (mix of G2 and G3s). One of the receivers seems to be acting quite strangely. When the receiver is on, but the belt pack is not on, the channel that the receiver is plugged into on the desk gives a loud 'Hissing' sound. When the belt pack is switched on, the receiver stops making this hissing sound and returns to normal use and the performance of the mic is fine but when belt pack transmitter is turned off, the hissing returns. It cant be the cable from the receiver to desk as why would it stop making the noise when the receiver is on? I have checked frequencies etc. and all seem to be in order. Have also tried different combinations of belt packs and receivers and I have singled it down to this one receiver. Any Ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks, Tom. paulears
The squelch on the receiver is open, that's all. You just need to adjust it with the mic pack OFF, until the hiss stops. Then all should be well when you turn the pack on. It's one of the menu options.
tommulliner
Thanks Paul, will check that. Just out of interest, what does the squelch do? I mean, all the rest of the menu options such as sensitivity are obvious, but what does it do?Tom.
