johnny2step
Ok guys advice request. I run a mobile disco for higher market wedding receptions. So music is POP, RnB Dance Etc. Normally don't have an audiance of more than 200max. I currently run Cerwin Vega's Intense series of speakers, 2x twin 15" Tops and 2x 18" Bins... = a less than efficent 2KW rig. Im looking for much nicer, professional and more efficient speakers. Looking for a 12" top and 15" sub kinda sized rig. Been looking at so far: -LD Systems Stinger Series-HK Audio Pro Series-EV Tour X Series (however this would be an 18" Sub) Budget really max's out at £2000. I have Crown amps to handle cabs around 500w RMS per cab @ 8Ohm (Ive allready aloud for head room) Any ideas would be well helpful. Any good or bad experiences of the above ranges? or any other suggestions. Sticking with passive. Thanks John
KevinE
All those 3 look ok to me, the LD are really the more downmarket of the three.
TonyMitchell
If you always use the full four-box system (as opposed to regularly using the MHF boxes on their own as full range cabs for smaller venues), then I'd look at 12" tops instead of 15"s. They'll give you a tighter sound and nicer vocals. However if you often do small gigs where the order of the day is a pair of full range cabs on sticks, generally 15" boxes will play lower, and in the case of the EV TX series, also 3dB louder. Have you already got processing? +1 what Kevin said, the HK and the EV are a league above the other one you mentioned.

KDD
Personnel opinion as I have used the EV speakers and Crown amplification in combination on many events, it sounds brilliant. Would recommend it. Electrvoice is a delicate piece of kit but I feel that is because it gives a sweet sound
kerry davies
It will come down to personal choice so get a demo using whatever range of music you use most but my preference is HK. I just believe they are more flexible and suit my peculiar lugholes.
Bobbsy
I guess I have the same lugholes as Kerry because HK would also be my first choice with the EV a decent second choice. However, the best advice is to try and get an audition since everybody's taste is different. For what it's worth, I'd second the advice of going for the 12 inch version of the full range boxes if you always use the subs. Bob
Tivoli Phil
Hiya John, I for one love the LD systems cabs (I have to say that, I bought 4 of em), but I must admit I've not heard the HK or EV units either. As others have said, get demos of all the units and see what you think. Phil

ChazHS
Ok throwing another set of speakers out there.... Martin audio F12's paired with S15's. What peoples opinion on those cabs? Thanks John Very very good system, be aware that for best performance you'll need a Martin Audio M3 controller and some nice powerful amps though! (I've always used Crown Macrotechs with the Martin audio F range).
5catfish
Don't buy anything LD systems...... their customer support sucks big time..... say they give a 2 year warranty but it may take that long to get an issue sorted out.....
TomWeston
Personally .... I would NEVER Buy a speaker or system untill I have heard it used in the appropriate situation you would be using it for. Also remember that people have different experience with different things and everyone uses equipment differently so other factors could be causing their "Bad experience " with that particular brand. shop around and try to get some hands on experience with the brands your looking at. Cheers, Tom
Lighty
The F12s are very loud. S18s barely provide enough bass to match them. I think the S15 will struggle. These are in adifferent league to the other cabs that you mentioned and will cost a lot of money.
