Heya, Im doing an Artist management project at college and we're looking for different venues that would be good to try and get bands gigs at. (I know my ability to word things is terrible :( ) Anyway, Ive got the obvious ones like King Tuts, Barras 2, The cathouse... but if you could help me out that would save me an awful lot of googling :)

Thanks :) :)

Welcome to the Blue Room!

Usually, we do not do peoples homework in here. If someone has set you work to find these venues, then part of it is knowing how to look up venues.

That said, see if your Library has a copy of the White Book. Ours does, and it is invaluable for things like this, as well as most things contact related.

They might also have a website, which would mean you wouldn't even have to move from where you are now... However a book looks far better in your references eh?

Heya, Its not homework as such, just part of what we were doing required having a couple of venues. Thanks though, ill ask if we have a white book :)
not sure what kind of gig you are looking at, but I have just come back off a tour to Scotland and we used Cafe Source in Glasgow. more a jazz venue, but really pleasant, relatively small, seats around 80 eating full meals.
FYI, cafe source is the cafe/restraunt in the building. The actual venue is St Andrews In The Square, seats upto 300 and is most definitely not a jazz venue. It's the 'home' of Scottish music/culture

Bloc, Box, ABC2, pivo pivo, 13th note, Nice n Sleazy's, Universal, Ivory Blacks, etc etc.

It's not difficult, most pubs in Sauchiehall and Bath streets have live music nights. Check the local listings guides.

We were in the cafe section, as part of what is apparently a regular big band slot. The upstairs looked good but I haven't been in there.
