Mixer amp with CD

A quick enquiry...

I'm looking for the neatest possible solution for speaker-on-stick jobs requiring up to, say, four mics, and a CD player for background music. Has anyone come across a mixer amp (say 2 x 150W or thereabouts, or even mono 300W) with just a few mic channels and an integral CD player?

I could see something like this being quite popular for band vocal/rehearsal PA with facility to listen to recorded music, as well as my suggested application for tiny jobs where setup/packup time is zero, so I'm surprised at the lack of offerings from the usual suspects.

Any ideas?

InterM have some bits of kit like this for Public Address kit, its very basic stuff though with no EQ per channel, just treble/bass on the masters.

Works well for background music and announcements though (as you hope it would!)

I do appreciate that it was part of your question, but is a CD player really required? Everyone and their dog have some sort of mp3 Player/iPod that they would much rather plug in, than have to transport a collection of CD's.

I would have though that a basic powered mixer and speakers with cable to minijack would be much more standard in this day and age.

May something like the Yamaha Stagepas -> http://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/proaudio/...00/?mode=series

Although if that doesn't suit, then you can always flightcase up a CD player with a powered mixer, and thus have the desired effect.

If the BUDGET word is paramount for you then check out Maplin:

This has been discontinued at Maplin but you might find similar elsewhere...or perhaps there are a few units left in a Maplin store somewhere???

OK it's not that special but may be just the job for you...just don't kid yourself you can drive it like pro stuff tho'.

I've not personally come across any mixer/amp with an inbuilt CD but, for sheer simplicity, there are a number of 'PA in a box' solutions which integrate eveything like this:

Fohhn Easyport

and this

Chiayo Challenger

Both of these are primarily vocal reinforcement systems aimed more at spoken word than singing but the number of wired mic inputs are a little limited and have little or no EQ. Music playback is available on these also to reasonable but not high levels.
